Have you seen this new camper for Jeep?
Exciting news for Jeep Gladiator owners and overlanding enthusiasts! Jeep has teamed up with Utah-based Addax Overland to introduce an innovative camper solution – the Jeep x Addax Gladiator Overlanding Camper. This collaboration marks Jeep's continued commitment to providing top-notch gear for adventurers.
Truck Camper Adventure highlights the vast market of over 40 camper shell manufacturers, making the choice overwhelming for truck owners. However, Jeep's endorsement of a specific model adds a layer of trust for consumers. Their newest offering, developed in partnership with Addax Overland, is specially tailored for the Jeep Gladiator, a model that has captured attention since its 2018 launch.
Jeep and Addax Overland's relationship began at SEMA 2022 with an 850-pound trail-ready trailer. Their latest product, a modular camper shell, is designed to enhance the versatility of the Gladiator in any setting. It's a significant step, as this is the first time Jeep has directly participated in designing a camper shell for their truck.
The centerpiece of this collaboration is a 16-gauge stainless steel truck cap with a retractable roof, a practical feature for transporting tall cargo or accessing the cab-over rack. It also includes flip-up hatch doors and flush-mounted windows, enhancing both functionality and visibility. The basic cap can be a standalone sleeping solution, although it's recommended to pair it with the aluminum-framed rooftop tent specifically designed for it. This tent, weighing 175 pounds, offers an impressive 76 inches of headroom and a sizable foam mattress, comfortably accommodating two people.
What sets this camper apart are its additional features: interior LED lighting, a 200-watt solar panel system, an exhaust fan in the tent, and a unique sound-dampening foam headliner with a Moab topographic pattern. Future expansions include options like a 270-degree awning, a rack system, and a truck bed organization and kitchen kit, allowing for further customization.
Jeep revealed the 2024 Gladiator alongside the Jeep x Addax Gladiator Overlanding Camper at the Detroit Auto Show in October. Pricing starts at an accessible $4,000, with the first deliveries expected in spring 2024. This collaboration not only showcases Jeep's commitment to the overlanding community but also sets a new standard in the industry for functionality and design in camper solutions.

Is onX Maps a “Must Have?”Let’s See!
Off-roading and overlanding enthusiasts often prioritize selecting the best tires, auxiliary lights, and recovery tools for their adventures. However, one fundamental yet frequently overlooked tool is a reliable map. OnX Offroad, a specialized application designed for navigating various off-road trails, has significantly simplified this aspect of our adventures. The app caters to an array of vehicles, including 4x4s, UTVs, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles, although my experience is primarily with its features beyond snowmobiling.
Our journey with onX Offroad began with our acquisition of a Jeep Gladiator, which prompted a need to explore local off-roading trails in the Texas desert. Despite Texas' vast lands, finding accessible trails was challenging due to the high percentage of private ownership. This app has been instrumental in our virtual scouting, making the process more efficient and straightforward.
One of the app's most valuable features is its offline functionality, essential in areas with no cell phone signal. Before embarking on a trip, we plan our route on a larger device and then transfer the maps and waypoints to a mobile device for use during the journey. This function allows for real-time navigation, even in the absence of cell service, a feature that exceeded my initial expectations.
In addition to navigation, onX Offroad provides a platform for users to share images and notes about trails, offering insights into the terrain and topography. While these visuals are subject to change with weather and seasonal variations, they are a helpful and motivational resource. The app's note-taking feature is particularly useful, allowing co-pilots to document significant points along the route for future reference or sharing with others.
The app's pricing structure is reasonable, with the premium subscription available at $30 per year. For those exploring areas with considerable private land, the Elite Package, at $100 annually, offers additional information on land ownership and boundaries, which has proven invaluable in avoiding accidental trespassing.
While the app offers trail difficulty ratings and user reviews, these ratings can sometimes lack consistency, particularly for midrange trails. This is partly due to natural changes in the trails, but more clarity in these ratings would be beneficial. For example, during our experience at Black Gap Trail in Big Bend National Park, we found the trail's rating to be somewhat misleading when compared to a previously traveled county dirt road.
In summary, while onX Offroad is not without its imperfections, it has proven to be an invaluable tool for planning and navigating off-road trips. It provides a level of detail and convenience that surpasses traditional methods of trail discovery and planning, allowing adventurers to focus on the exhilarating aspects of their journey.
This Weeks YouTube Channel To Watch.
Hey there, fellow YouTube connoisseurs! Confession time: I'm a YouTube addict. Yep, I'm always on the prowl for those diamond-in-the-rough channels where the creators spin tales so enthralling, you'd think they were Hollywood directors. But let's be real, these days YouTube feels more like a billboard on the Vegas strip – flashy but lacking that stickiness that glues your eyes to the screen.
However, every once in a while, it's not just the story that hooks you, but the storyteller themselves. And this week, I've got a gem for you: @bustabeatgeorge. No, he's not out there conjuring up Indiana Jones-level adventures. He's just your regular Jorge, but with a flair for creating content that feels like a warm chat with an old friend.
Jorge's vibe? Think of that chill, helpful neighbor who always has the best lawn. His videos are a delightful blend of laid-back and informative, perfect for those of us who appreciate a good Toyota adventure, Alu-Cab escapades, and wilderness wanderings.
So, if you're in the mood for content that feels like a cozy campfire chat rather than a high-octane action movie, give Jorge a spin. Despite his burgeoning follower count, he's as humble as they come. Check him out, and who knows, maybe you'll find your new YouTube hangout spot!
